SEARS Pacific Center Chiller Replacement

Established in 1971, SEARS - PACIFIC CENTRE is strategically located at the intersection of, W. Georgia, Robson and Howe Street and is the dominant Mall in downtown Vancouver. Originally constructed as a five story retail Mall building and expanded in the year 1980 to seven floors. During this expansion cooling tower moved to penthouse level. New AHU's servicing sixth and seventh floor also were installed at penthouse level.

PROCON Engineering scope was to replace existing chillers, pumps and retrofit piping and instrumentation.

Sevenoaks Mall Chiller Replacement
Abbotsford, BC

Established in 1975, Sevenoaks shopping centre is strategically located at the intersection of two major connectors, South Fraser Way and Gladwin Road and is the dominant retail destination in Abbotsford and Mission.

Expanded in 1984, 1991 and renovated and re-merchandized in 2000.
Mall has a total leasable area of 526,029 square feet
Project scope was to replace chillers, pumps and retrofit piping and instrumentation.

470 Granville Chiller & Cooling Tower Installations

470 Granville is a restored ten story heritage building which was built in the year of 1911 conveniently located on the northeast corner of Granville Street and Pender Street. It is also called Rogers Building. The building is a ten story has a total floor area of 9,822 sq. ft. with a total floor area of 105,000 sq. ft. used as an office building.

Project scope was to install chillers and cooling tower.

Vancouver Block Boiler Installation
Vancouver, BC

736 Granville, known as "Vancouver Block", designed by architects Parr and Fee, standing at sixteen stories was built in 1912. The building is located in the core of downtown Vancouver, British Columbia. The Vancouver Block building, built in the style of Edwardian structure and, its clock, framed by Greco-Roman ornaments is most definitely eye-catching.

The scope of this Heating System Conversion Project is to replacing the existing steam converters with new boilers and required upgrade work involved for the building.

HVAC DESIGN, EVALUATION AND RETROFIT

PROCON Engineering completes many renovation works every year. Much of this work involves assessment of current systems, upgrading equipment and improving operating protocols. Below we provide brief descriptions of our most recent design and renovation projects.

Richmond Aquatic Center
Richmond, BC

PROCON Engineering was contracted by City of Richmond to conduct a substantial review of the existing HVAC systems of the Richmond Aquatic Center; to evaluate the indoor environmental quality and to present recommended options for improving the building ventilation, dehumidification and heat recovery systems and air quality.

Richmond Aquatic Center - "Watermania" located in Richmond, BC, ten years old, 60,000 sq. ft. indoor swimming facility which contains main pool, a wave pool with water slide, and four hot tubs. The complex also houses offices and other recreational fitness activity rooms.

The building is of concrete construction with a steel frame roof.

CNC Center
Kelowna, BC

The PROCON Engineering scope was to present the mechanical deficiencies prior to undertaking a full commissioning of the building by the Owner "The City of Kelowna"

City of Kelowna issued a Design Build Contract for the design and construction of a new sports quad-plex in the Mission District Park. This facility, referred to as the Capital News Centre (CNC) contains:

  • Two NHL ice sheets and two indoor playing fields in the main part of the building;
  • Associated support spaces, such as washroom/changing rooms, concession and administration area located centrally between the main sports venues;
  • A mezzanine level fitness centre, running track, and physiotherapy clinic;
  • One leisure ice sheet
  • Public library, and a sports bar/ restaurant as separate tenancies to the main building.
